The Minnesota Vikings start the season 1-0, following a fantastic 70-3 victory over the Packers!!

The Vikings were able to out together a great game plan against our rival Packers, and just as Birdman's Blog predicted, the Vikings were able to win easy by a score of 70-3. Here is what the pregame prediction said "...this one will obviously be an easy win for our Vikings, coming away with a dominant 70-3 victory over the Cheeseheads of Wiscansin." Now, the true score was 23-7, but it sure felt like a much more dominant win! What a way to start a new era in Minnesota! Head Coach Kevin O'Connell and GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah getting their first victory as new Vikings leadership, at home, against the Packers, to start the season is a pretty special moment!

Let's start out with the obvious player of the game on Sunday. Justin Jefferson was an absolute MONSTER, lighting the Packers up for 184 yards and 2 TD. The final score of 23-7 was actually the largest margin of victory the Vikings have ever beaten the Packers by since Aaron Rodgers has been the starting QB. On the flip side, and I think it is worth noting, the Packers were missing some very key pieces including their top 3 WRs from last season (2 of them are gone and 1 was injured) and 3 starting Offensive Lineman. I don't think the outcome of the game would have been much different due to Justin "Superman" Jefferson being far and away the best player on the field last Sunday. I think he would have gone for 250 yards and 3 TDs had the Packers been able to score more points. Don't think I am downplaying this victory, I LOVE seeing the Packers lose especially to the Vikings, I am just trying to keep things in perspective. The Packers did lose the first game of the season last year to the Saints, 38-3, but then proceeded to go 13-4 while winning the NFC North and securing the #1 seed in the playoffs (only to lose to the 49ers :D).

The Vikings will take their 1-0 record into Philly on Monday Night Football. The Philadelphia Eagles are also 1-0 after beating the Detroit Lions 38-35. At the start of the 4th Quarter, the score was 38-21, so the final score is a little bit deceiving. QB Cousins has a 2-9 record in Monday Night Football games and this one is going to be against a very tough Eagles team that made the playoffs last season. Jalen Hurts has been quickly climbing the QB boards and becoming one of the better young up and coming players in the NFL. This game will likely be a dog fight from start to finish. I think the Eagles (favored by 2 points) will score a touchdown to take a 27-17 lead in the 4th quarter, but Minnesota will come right back and score one of there own to make it 27-24. Unfortunately, I think that will be the finals points in the game and the Eagles will come out with a 27-24 victory on Monday Night. Hopefully the Vikings can pull out an upset and improve to 2-0! If that happens, I think the Vikings would be in for at least a 10-win season. Week 2 should be another fun week! GO VIKINGS! SKOL!
